The Plan

The Plan was formed in 1985 by a group of high school buddies from McAllen, Texas.

In 1986, we recorded one album together in two 5-hour sessions at a small studio that specialized in producing conjunto bands in Edinburg, Texas. The first session was January 13, 1986, and the last session was August 18, 1986. We recorded five songs that first night and six additional songs in August of 1986.

Of course, The Plan was to submit these songs to all major music labels, which we did, and become rich and famous rock stars. We did submit the songs, but the rich and famous part never happened.

I recently discovered the lost master tapes in a box in my closet after almost 30 years and found a company here in Austin that transferred the songs to a digital .mp3 format from the reel-to-reel tapes we received after the recording sessions. There was some damage to the tapes over time, so I am still working on the remaining nine songs, however the first two songs are below. If you listen hard, you can hear the heavy influence that Boston and Rush had on us during those early years.

Not too bad for a bunch of kids just out of high school.   😉
